Cody Chestnutt w/Martin Luther
Tickets Available at Ticketweb
On Thursday, June 13th, escape the summer heat aboard SOB’s luxury yacht with the amazingly cool Cody Chestnutt and fellow artist, Martin Luther. Hot on the heels of his latest full-length album, Landing on a Hundred, Chestnutt is poised to deliver a night of thoughtful soul and rich Southern twang; paired with Luther’s smooth vocals and style, it’s a night of music not to be missed. Tickets are available through Ticketweb. More information on the Summer Splash Concert Cruises can be found at www.summersplashconcertcruises.com.
Chestnutt first emerged on the music scene with his album, The Headphone Masterpiece, which he recorded on a cassette recorder out of his Los Angeles bedroom in 2002. Despite its low-tech setup, the record showcased his neo-soul style and socially conscious lyrics, gaining the attention of music heavyweights like The Roots, who sampled him for their enormous hit, “The Seed 2.0.” After a long hiatus from the spotlight, Chestnutt returned to his Southern past to record 2012’s Landing on a Hundred, which is buzzing with critical acclaim. The album was recorded at Memphis’s Royal Studios, where Chestnutt worked off the lingering energy of music legends like Al Green and Ike and Tina Turner. While maintaining his classic soul style, Landing on a Hundred also showcases Chestnutt’s Georgia-grown roots, delivering songs Southern soul fans will truly sink into.
For his Summer Splash concert, Chestnutt will be joined by Martin Luther, another dynamic soul musician whose abilities to blend past and present sounds make him a monumental, timeless artist. Describing his personal style as “rebel soul,” Luther stakes a claim in creating music with intention and purpose. Having performed alongside Chestnutt before, it’s been made clear the two men play off one another flawlessly, captivating audiences with emotionally fulfilling and musically inspiring shows.
