Jimi Tents‘ show at Rough Trade was all about Brooklyn, which fit well with the theme of his new project I Can’t Go Home, which was released the day of the show. Growing up in East New York, Jimi raps against the backdrop of a rapidly changing and gentrified Brooklyn. Having the show in Williamsburg was pointedly appropriate.
Jimi performed new songs from the project as well as some older cuts, while the crowd either sang along or vibed out. With NXGN and Flatbush’s own 22LOVE as openers, Brooklyn was in the house and is definitely here to stay.
Check out the full recap below as well as his sophomore project I Can’t Go Home.
