Bringing You BACK TO LIFE, NYC’s First London Club Night, Louie & Chan October 3rd

September 14, 2015 2:25 pm

BACK TO LIFE with KHALIL (Livin’ Proof), Pauli Lovejoy, and DJ Moma @ LOUIE & CHAN

BACK TO LIFE is New York City’s first officially London vibes club night, starting on Saturday October 3rd, at Louie & Chan, featuring the UK’s own Khalil Livin’ Proof and Pauli Lovejoy, playing a unique blend of of grime, garage, bashment, with a touch of broken beat, and drum n’ bass, and a healthy dose of hip-hop and R&B.

The kick off night will also feature special guest DJ MOMA playing a special UK-themed set. In true UK fashion, Ben Sherman© will be an official partner.

Khalil is a fresh face in NYC but a London mainstay, the co-founder of Livin’ Proof, which Noisey dubbed “London’s best hip-hop party”, and where the foggy city’s debut performances of the likes of A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown, Schoolboy Q, and many others have gone down. The vibes at Livin’ Proof, which Hudson Mohawke called “quite an amazing party…London’s best”, prompted Danny Brown to offer “performing on the Livin’ Proof stage was one of the happiest moments of my life”. Following multiple appearances, Boilerroom has referred to Khalil as “one of the most sought after club DJ’s in London…”

Pauli Lovejoy, a fellow British expat (Pauli was actually an official torch carrier at the 2012 Olympics held in London) and longtime Livin’ Proof collaborator, is an acclaimed drummer who’s toured with Kindness and Damon Albarn, and is a musical force in his own right. Now Pauli is striking out to become a proper solo artist with the release of “i DON’T CARE“, the product of a partnership with long time collaborator Rohan Blair-Mangat.

NYC and London have long been cultural cousins on opposite sides of the Atlantic, but for the first time, you can hear UK sounds in NYC brought to you live and direct by two Londoners. Prep yourself for a night of Hip Hop, R&B, and 80’s Soul classics blended alongside the best UK Garage, Grime, House and Dancehall like you’ve never heard before!

Entry is free with RSVP here. #BackToLifeNYC
