Ravyn Lenae Took Over Brooklyn for TWO NIGHTS at Baby’s All Right and Rough Trade
April 5, 2018 10:35 amWe’ve been to a lot of shows in the 10 years that we’ve been around, but only a handful of shows give you butterflies. Ravyn Lenae’s back to back SOLD OUT shows in Brooklyn (4/3 at Baby’s All Right, 4/4 at Rough Trade) were proof that she is truly a special artist who is on the cusp of superstardom.
This year has been a particularly big year for the Chicago songstress, especially since the release of her critically acclaimed EP Crush, which was executive produced by The Internet’s Steve Lacy. After presenting her as a part of our No Ceilings showcase with 6lack, Leaf, and Twelve’len last year, we were so excited to work with her on her first solo tour to support Crush. She performed songs off of the EP, while also taking it back to her projects “Moon Shoes” and “Midnight Moonlight”. Ravyn also treated us with a cover of Outkast’s “Prototype”. Insert heart emoji <3 Her performance of her single “Sticky” truly went off and sealed the deal for us. We are in love with Ravyn Lenae.
Over the span of the two nights, Ravyn also had four different, yet incredible artists supporting her. On the first night her band mate Luke Titus performed tracks from his project “Aside of Love” and NYC artist Raveena serenaded us with her ethereal and soulful sounds. She is definitely one to look out for. On night two, Philadelphia singer-songwriter Andrea Valle kicked of the night, performing songs from her debut EP “The Way It Goes”. Soul-Folk artist and Jay-Z signee Victory Boyd performed next, her rendition of “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone is still haunting us.
